A quick and easy overnight oats recipe combining tart cherries, mini chocolate chips, and a rich dark cocoa drizzle for a creamy, indulgent breakfast or snack.

  • 1 cup milk of choice (240ml), dairy or plant-based
  • ½ cup Greek yogurt (120g), plain or vanilla
  • ¾ cup cherries (about 110g), pitted and halved, fresh or frozen
  • ¼ cup mini chocolate chips (45g), semi-sweet or dark
  • 2 tablespoons maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons dark cocoa powder
  • 2 tablespoons hot water
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Combine the oats, milk, and Greek yogurt in a mixing bowl. Stir well until smooth and creamy (about 2 minutes).
  2. Add the maple syrup, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Stir again to distribute flavors evenly (about 1 minute).
  3. Fold in the cherries and mini chocolate chips, ensuring even distribution (about 1 minute).
  4. Divide the mixture into mason jars or airtight containers, leaving space at the top for the cocoa drizzle. Seal containers tightly (about 2 minutes).
  5. Place the jars in the refrigerator overnight (at least 6 hours; minimum 4 hours if in a hurry).
  6. Before serving, prepare the dark cocoa drizzle by mixing cocoa powder with hot water in a small bowl until smooth and glossy (about 3 minutes).
  7. Drizzle the dark cocoa sauce over the oats. Optionally, add extra cherries or chocolate chips on top. Serve chilled or let sit at room temperature for 10 minutes if preferred.

Notes

Use coconut yogurt and plant-based milk for a vegan version. Adjust maple syrup to taste. If oats are too thick in the morning, stir in a splash of milk. Store leftover oats in airtight containers in the fridge up to 3 days. Store cocoa drizzle separately for freshness.
