A refreshing and easy-to-make strawberry lemonade that balances sweet and tart flavors, perfect for summer gatherings and everyday enjoyment.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound (450g) fresh strawberries, hulled and roughly chopped
  • 4 to 5 medium lemons (about 1 cup or 240ml of juice)
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar (can substitute with honey or maple syrup)
  • 4 cups (1 liter) cold water
  • Ice cubes (optional, for serving)
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Rinse 1 pound (450g) of fresh strawberries under cold water. Hull and roughly chop them (about 5 minutes).
  2. Place the chopped strawberries in a blender or food processor. Blend until smooth, about 30 seconds to 1 minute. Optionally strain through a fine mesh sieve for a smoother texture.
  3. Roll 4 to 5 lemons on the counter, cut in half, and juice to extract about 1 cup (240ml) of lemon juice, removing seeds.
  4. In a large pitcher, stir 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar into the lemon juice until fully dissolved. Warm lemon juice slightly if sugar is stubborn, then cool.
  5. Pour the strawberry puree into the pitcher with the lemon syrup. Add 4 cups (1 liter) of cold water and stir well. Adjust sweetness or tartness by adding more sugar or water if needed.
  6. Refrigerate the lemonade for at least 30 minutes to chill and let flavors meld.
  7. Serve over ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Use ripe strawberries for maximum sweetness. Straining the puree is optional depending on texture preference. Adjust sugar to taste. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. For a fizzy version, substitute some or all water with sparkling water. A pinch of salt can mellow tartness without adding saltiness.
