Flavorful Mango Jalapeño and Watermelon Agua Fresca Mocktails

A refreshing and easy-to-make summer mocktail combining sweet mango, juicy watermelon, and a spicy jalapeño kick, perfect for warm evenings and casual gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups peeled and chopped ripe mangoes (Ataulfo recommended)
  • 3 cups cubed seedless watermelon
  • 1 small fresh jalapeño, thinly sliced (seeds removed for mild heat or kept for extra kick)
  • Juice of 2 fresh limes
  • 3 cups cold water
  • 2 tablespoons agave syrup or honey (optional)
  • A handful of fresh mint leaves (for garnish)
  • Ice cubes (to serve chilled)

Instructions

  1. Peel and chop the mangoes into chunks (about 2 cups). Cube the watermelon to get about 3 cups, removing any seeds if necessary.
  2. Thinly slice 1 small jalapeño, removing seeds if you prefer less heat. Use gloves if sensitive to chili oils.
  3. In a blender, combine mango, watermelon, jalapeño slices, and 3 cups (720 ml) of cold water. Blend on high for about 1 minute until smooth and vibrant.
  4. Pour the blended liquid through a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth into a large pitcher to remove pulp and jalapeño bits. Press gently with a spoon to extract as much juice as possible.
  5. Stir in fresh lime juice from 2 limes and 2 tablespoons of agave syrup or honey. Taste and adjust sweetness if needed.
  6. Refrigerate the agua fresca for at least 30 minutes to let flavors meld and chill thoroughly.
  7. Serve over ice cubes with fresh mint leaves for garnish.

Notes

Use coconut water instead of cold water for a tropical twist. Adjust jalapeño seeds for desired heat. Straining is essential to avoid bitterness and grit. Chill for at least 30 minutes before serving. Fresh lime juice is preferred over bottled. For extra jalapeño kick, muddle slices with mint before serving. If too thick, add more cold water.
