A quick and easy frozen margarita blending fresh strawberries and jalapeño for a sweet, spicy, and refreshing summer cocktail.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
  • 1 small jalapeño, sliced, seeds removed for milder heat
  • 2 ounces (60 ml) tequila blanco
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) triple sec or Cointreau
  • 1 ounce (30 ml) fresh lime juice (about 1 lime)
  • 1 tablespoon agave nectar (or honey/simple syrup)
  • 1 to 1 ½ cups ice cubes
  • Salt for rimming the glass (optional)

Instructions

  1. Hull and quarter about 1 cup of fresh strawberries. Slice a small jalapeño, removing seeds if you prefer less heat. Squeeze 1 ounce (about 1 lime) of fresh lime juice and set aside.
  2. Pour salt onto a small plate. Rub a lime wedge around the rim of your margarita glass, then dip the rim into the salt, twisting gently to coat evenly. Set the glass aside to dry.
  3. In a blender, combine strawberries, jalapeño slices, 2 ounces tequila blanco, 1 ounce triple sec, fresh lime juice, and 1 tablespoon agave nectar. Add 1 to 1 ½ cups of ice cubes.
  4. Blend on high for 30 to 45 seconds until smooth and slushy, stopping to scrape down the sides if needed. Aim for a thick but drinkable frozen slush texture.
  5. Taste and adjust: add more agave nectar or strawberries if too spicy, or a splash of cold water or lime juice if too thick. Pulse again if needed.
  6. Pour the frozen margarita into the prepared glass. Garnish with a thin slice of jalapeño or a fresh strawberry on the rim and serve immediately.

Notes

For milder heat, remove jalapeño seeds; for more spice, leave seeds or add extra jalapeño slices as garnish. Use fresh lime juice for best flavor. Chill glasses beforehand for a cooler drink. To make a batch, prepare mix without ice and blend with fresh ice before serving. Avoid over-blending to prevent watery texture.
