A vibrant and crispy fruit bowl made in the air fryer, perfect for 4th of July celebrations. This snack combines fresh strawberries, blueberries, and apples with a caramelized crunch and a hint of cinnamon.

  • 1 cup fresh blueberries, washed and patted dry
  • 1 medium apple (Granny Smith or Fuji), thinly sliced (about 1/8-inch or 3 mm thick)
  • 1 tablespoon honey (or maple syrup for vegan option)
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lemon juice
  • 1/8 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • Olive oil spray or 1 teaspoon melted coconut oil
  • Fresh mint leaves (optional, for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Wash all fruit thoroughly. Hull and halve the strawberries, slice the apple thinly, and pat blueberries dry. Toss apple slices immediately with lemon juice to prevent browning.
  2. In a medium bowl, combine honey, lemon juice, and ground cinnamon. Stir until well blended.
  3. Add strawberries, apples, and blueberries to the bowl. Gently coat the fruit with the honey mixture using a spatula or hands, being careful not to bruise the berries.
  4. Lightly spray the air fryer basket with olive oil or brush with melted coconut oil to prevent sticking.
  5. Arrange the coated fruit in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding for even crisping.
  6. Set the air fryer to 350°F (175°C). Cook for 7 minutes, then gently shake or use tongs to turn the fruit. Continue cooking for another 2 minutes or until edges are golden and crispy but fruit remains juicy inside.
  7. Transfer the fruit to a serving bowl and let cool slightly to allow crisp edges to set. Garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.

Notes

Watch the fruit closely after 7 minutes to avoid over-drying. Use thin apple slices for quicker crisping. Pat fruit dry to prevent steaming. Light oil coating helps caramelize sugars and crisp edges. Air fry in batches if making a large quantity. If no air fryer, roast in a convection oven at 375°F (190°C) for 5-7 minutes, watching carefully.
