These easy Halloween mummy hot dogs with mustard eyes are a fun, quick, and kid-friendly treat perfect for Halloween parties or spooky movie nights. Made with just four simple ingredients, they turn a regular dinner into something memorable.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 beef or turkey hot dogs
  • 1 can (8 oz) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Yellow mustard (for eyes)
  • Ketchup for dipping (optional)
  • Ranch dressing for dipping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. Pat the hot dogs dry with a paper towel. If they are extra long, cut them in half crosswise to about 4 inches long.
  3. Open the crescent roll dough and unroll it onto a clean cutting board. If using the perforated triangle version, press the seams together to create one solid sheet.
  4. Using a sharp knife or pizza cutter, cut the dough lengthwise into 8-10 thin strips, about ½ inch wide.
  5. Take one strip of dough and wrap it around a hot dog at a slight angle, overlapping slightly. Leave a small gap near the top for the eyes. Press the end of the dough to seal. Repeat with remaining hot dogs and dough strips.
  6. Place the wrapped hot dogs on the prepared baking sheet, leaving about 2 inches between each.
  7. Brush the beaten egg over the exposed dough on each mummy.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes, until the dough is golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let them cool for 2 minutes.
  10. Dip a toothpick into the mustard and dot two small eyes onto each mummy’s exposed hot dog area.
  11. Serve immediately.

Notes

For best results, keep the dough cold. If the dough ends come loose, secure with a toothpick before baking. Add mustard eyes 2-3 minutes after baking for best adhesion. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat in a 350°F oven for 5-7 minutes to restore crispness. Unbaked mummy hot dogs can be frozen for up to 3 months; bake from frozen, adding 3-5 minutes to the baking time.
