easy patriotic snack board - featured image

A fun and simple snack board featuring red, white, and blue ingredients that kids can assemble themselves, perfect for parties and celebrations.

Ingredients

  • Fresh strawberries, washed and sliced
  • Blueberries, fresh or frozen, rinsed
  • Apple slices, crisp and thinly sliced
  • Cheddar cheese, cubed or shredded
  • Mini pretzels
  • Greek yogurt or sour cream, for dipping
  • Honey or maple syrup, optional drizzle
  • Red bell pepper, thinly sliced strips
  • Blue corn tortilla chips

Instructions

  1. Wash and prep fruits and veggies: rinse strawberries, blueberries, and red bell pepper under cold water. Slice strawberries and bell pepper into thin strips. Core and thinly slice apples right before serving to avoid browning.
  2. Cut cheese and arrange snacks: cube or shred cheddar cheese. If desired, use cookie cutters to cut cheese slices or fruits into star shapes.
  3. Set up the board: arrange fruits, cheese, mini pretzels, and chips on a serving board in clusters or stripes to mimic the flag’s colors. Place small bowls with Greek yogurt and honey near the edge for dipping.
  4. Invite kids to build: encourage kids to use tongs or fingers to make their own snack combinations, such as stacking fruit and cheese or dipping apple slices into yogurt.
  5. Clean up tips: keep extra napkins handy for sticky honey or juicy berries. Wipe the board between rounds if refreshing ingredients.

Notes

Cut apples last minute and toss with lemon juice to prevent browning. Use room temperature cheese for better flavor. Rinse berries just before serving to avoid sogginess. Substitute gluten-free crackers for pretzels for a gluten-free version. Use dairy-free yogurt for a dairy-free option. Encourage kids to experiment with combinations for fun.
