A quick and easy recipe for patriotic layered jello shots featuring red, white, and blue layers with a creamy twist, perfect for celebrations like the Fourth of July.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) strawberry or cherry flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka or clear spirit of choice
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) unflavored gelatin powder
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka or clear spirit
  • 1 package (3 oz / 85 g) blue raspberry flavored gelatin
  • 1 cup (240 ml) boiling water
  • 1/2 cup (120 ml) vodka or clear spirit
  • Optional garnishes: fresh blueberries, mini American flags or festive toothpicks

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Red Layer: Dissolve the strawberry or cherry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water. Stir for about 2 minutes until fully dissolved. Add 1/2 cup vodka and mix gently. Pour about 1 oz into each shot cup, filling about one-third full. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes until firm but slightly tacky.
  2. Make the White Layer: Sprinkle unflavored gelatin over 1 cup boiling water in a separate bowl and stir until dissolved. Stir in sweetened condensed milk and 1/2 cup vodka. Once the red layer is ready, gently pour about 1 oz of the white layer over it. Refrigerate for another 30-40 minutes until set but not fully hard.
  3. Prepare the Blue Layer: Dissolve blue raspberry gelatin in 1 cup boiling water, stirring for about 2 minutes. Add 1/2 cup vodka and mix gently. Carefully pour this final blue layer over the white layer, filling each cup to the top. Refrigerate for at least 1 hour to fully set all layers.
  4. Serving Prep: Optionally top each jello shot with a fresh blueberry or festive toothpick. Remove from the fridge about 10 minutes before serving for best texture.

Notes

Pour layers slowly down the side of the cup to avoid mixing. Each layer should be firm enough to hold the next but not too hard. Use room temperature alcohol to prevent gelatin from seizing. If the white layer sets too hard, gently reheat and stir to liquefy before pouring. Store in refrigerator up to 3 days; avoid freezing.
