A fun and spooky Halloween dessert featuring layers of brownies, vanilla pudding, whipped cream, crushed Oreos as dirt, and gummy worms for a playful graveyard effect.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 batch of your favorite brownies (store-bought or homemade, about 9×13-inch pan size, cut into cubes)
  • 2 cups (480 ml) prepared vanilla pudding (store-bought or homemade)
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy whipping cream, whipped to soft peaks (or store-bought whipped topping)
  • 20 Oreo cookies, crushed finely to create the “dirt” (double-stuffed recommended)
  • 1520 gummy worms
  • Chocolate syrup (optional drizzle)
  • Candy tombstones or Halloween-themed sprinkles for garnish (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Brownies: Bake your favorite brownie recipe or unwrap store-bought brownies. Let them cool completely, then cut into roughly 1-inch (2.5 cm) cubes.
  2. Make the Pudding: Prepare 2 cups (480 ml) of vanilla pudding according to package instructions or your homemade recipe. Chill it in the fridge until ready to layer (about 10 minutes).
  3. Whip the Cream: In a clean, chilled bowl, whip 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream to soft peaks using an electric mixer (about 3–5 minutes).
  4. Crush the Oreos: Place 20 Oreo cookies in a sealed plastic bag and crush into fine crumbs using a rolling pin or pulse in a food processor, leaving some small clumps.
  5. Layer the Trifle: Start with a layer of brownie cubes (about 1.5 cups or 225 grams) at the bottom of your trifle bowl. Spoon a layer of pudding (about 1 cup / 240 ml) evenly over the brownies. Add a layer of whipped cream (about ½ cup / 120 ml). Sprinkle a generous layer of Oreo dirt on top (about ½ cup / 50 grams).
  6. Add Gummy Worms: Place 5–7 gummy worms artfully on the Oreo dirt, letting some peek out.
  7. Repeat Layers: Continue layering brownies (1.5 cups), pudding (1 cup), whipped cream (½ cup), and Oreo dirt (½ cup), finishing with more gummy worms on top.
  8. Optional Finishing Touch: Drizzle chocolate syrup over the top or add candy tombstones and Halloween sprinkles for decoration.
  9. Chill Before Serving: Refrigerate the trifle for at least 2 hours to let flavors meld and layers set.

Notes

Use room temperature ingredients for easier whipping. Do not overwhip cream. Crush Oreos to a crumbly texture with some chunks for realism. Handle brownie cubes gently to avoid breaking. Chill trifle at least 2 hours before serving. Store leftovers covered in refrigerator up to 3 days; serve within 1 day for crunchy Oreo dirt. Can substitute pudding and whipped cream for dairy-free versions and use gluten-free brownies and cookies for dietary needs.
