A quick and easy air fryer burger recipe that delivers perfectly cooked, juicy burgers with a crispy crust in just 12 minutes.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 teaspoon kosher or sea salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional but recommended)
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • Olive oil or cooking spray (for greasing the air fryer basket)
  • Burger buns (toasted or fresh, brioche recommended)
  • Optional toppings: sliced cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickles, condiments

Instructions

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C) and let it warm up for about 3 minutes.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine ground beef with salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix gently with your hands without overworking the meat.
  3. Divide the mixture into 4 equal portions (about 4 oz or 113g each). Shape each into a round patty about 3/4 inch (2 cm) thick. Press a slight dimple in the center of each patty to prevent puffing during cooking.
  4. Lightly grease the air fryer basket with olive oil or cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  5. Place the patties in a single layer in the basket with space between each for even cooking.
  6. Air fry at 375°F (190°C) for 6 minutes. Flip the patties carefully using tongs or a spatula, then cook for another 6 minutes.
  7. Check for doneness: internal temperature should be 160°F (71°C) for well-done. For medium, aim for 145°F (63°C) and reduce cooking time by 1-2 minutes per side. Use the finger test if no thermometer is available.
  8. If adding cheese, place a slice on each patty during the last minute of cooking and close the air fryer to melt.
  9. Toast the buns separately while the burgers cook, if desired.
  10. Assemble the burgers with patties, buns, and your preferred toppings and condiments. Serve immediately.

Notes

Do not overmix the meat to keep burgers tender. Press a dimple in the center of patties to prevent puffing. Flip burgers only once halfway through cooking. Let burgers rest for a few minutes after cooking to redistribute juices. Adjust cooking time if your air fryer runs hot. Use 80/20 ground beef for best juiciness. Toast buns to prevent sogginess.
