A quick and easy recipe that transforms thick-cut bacon into a sweet, smoky, and boozy breakfast treat with a sticky bourbon maple glaze.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 12 slices thick-cut bacon
  • 1/2 cup (100g) brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup (60ml) pure maple syrup
  • 2 tablespoons (30ml) bourbon
  • 1/4 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • Pinch of freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil and place a wire rack on top.
  3. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, maple syrup, bourbon, smoked paprika (if using), and black pepper. Stir until smooth.
  4. Lay out the bacon slices in a single layer on the wire rack without overlapping.
  5. Brush one side of the bacon generously with the glaze using a pastry brush or spoon.
  6. Bake for 10 minutes, then carefully flip each slice and brush the other side with glaze.
  7. Bake for another 10-12 minutes, watching closely after 8 minutes to avoid burning.
  8. Remove from oven and let the bacon rest on the rack for 2-3 minutes to let the glaze harden slightly.
  9. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Use thick-cut bacon for best results. Watch the bacon closely during the last minutes of baking to prevent burning the sugar glaze. If glaze thickens while brushing, warm it slightly in the microwave for 10-15 seconds. Leftover glaze can be used on roasted veggies or pancakes. For non-alcoholic version, substitute bourbon with apple cider or vanilla extract.
